We had the privilege of constructing this contemporary villa in CLT in the wooded new-build development 'De Krijgsman'. The villa is located on an inland waterway on a beautiful wooded plot.

The living areas on the ground floor feature large glass fronts to allow residents to enjoy the surrounding nature to the fullest. Spacious overhangs limit solar radiation. The overhangs and canopy form a powerful horizontal line that is characteristic of many of our designs.  The upper floor features a carefully detailed gable roof with aluminum standing seam roofing and open gables. The materials used are industrial in the form of glass and dark metal, but also warm and earthy in the form of broken natural stone cladding.

CLT (CROSS LAMINATED TIMBER)
The shell of the house is entirely prefabricated from wood in CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) and assembled on site in one week. The CLT elements consist of solid wood panels that are fitted with all the necessary fixtures and fittings in the factory. These solid wood elements replace the brick interior walls and concrete floors. The house is therefore constructed in a sustainable manner, but also has a pleasant indoor climate thanks to the heat-accumulating effect of the CLT wood.

The interior does not reveal that the house is constructed from CLT elements. Like stone walls and floors, CLT elements can be finished with stucco and paint. The floors are covered with a cast floor, which contributes to the understated character of the attractive interior. Simple materials are interspersed with warm woods.
