VILLA WAALRE
In collaboration with Betul Canbaz Interiors, a design was created for this distinctive rural modern villa in the south of the country.
The gently sloping terrain is surrounded by deciduous trees that provide shade and privacy. The house is elevated and forms a whole with the stepped terraces adjoining the garden. The ground floor and terraces have an earthy, robust character with natural stone and clay-colored stucco. The upper structure ties in with the wooded character of the plot and has a light building structure with wooden cladding and large glass windows. The color scheme of the house is light and warm with dark accents. The main volume with its striking sloping roof of oxidized copper has a vertical character and forms the heart of the house. This is connected to two horizontally oriented side wings with spacious cantilevered canopies and roof edges of loam-colored stucco. The flat roof sections are covered with moss/sedum roofs with overhanging green edges that connect with the green character of the surroundings.
The materialization of the home is warm and natural, with large glass windows connecting the interior spaces and terraces. The entrance to the house is on the east side and provides access to the spacious kitchen and dining room via the generously proportioned hall. A striking fireplace serves as a connecting point between the dining room and the sitting room and lounge, which are located a few steps down. From the kitchen, wide glass doors provide access to the east-facing terrace with morning sun and the covered terrace on the west side with afternoon and evening sun. Natural stone steps, flanked by lush greenery, lead to the lower terrace with swimming pool. The side wing next to the pool houses the wellness/sauna, guest accommodation, and chill-out area for the children.
The upper floor accommodates the master bedroom and bathroom in the main volume with a sloping roof, connected to the balcony overlooking the garden by French doors. The south wing houses the cloakroom, while the north wing contains the children's bedrooms with separate bathrooms.
SUSTAINABILITY
In line with the design of the home and its surroundings, the interior and garden are included as an integral part of the overall design. This overall design is developed with sustainability as its basis. This modern villa is designed to meet the new energy standard that will come into effect in 2020. Materials and installations are chosen in such a way that a minimum of energy is required to build and use the home, which is almost entirely self-sufficient in terms of energy generation.
