Troy Hill Villas Saba

BESPOKE & SUSTAINABLE ISLAND LIVING

THE ISLAND OF SABA
On the unspoiled island of Saba, we are developing 29 bespoke sustainable villas ranging from 100 sqm up to 400 sqm. All villas are integrated into the beautiful jungle landscape of Troy Hill.

Saba is a beautiful, friendly, safe, and unspoiled island in the Caribbean Sea, just a 10-minute flight from St. Martin.

Saba does not have the white beaches and busy tourism often associated with Caribbean islands. Saba is rural, unspoiled, and full of beautiful nature. It offers "world top ten" diving spots, spectacular hiking trails, and excellent cuisine. But most of all, it offers privacy, peace, and quiet. The people of Saba are proud of their island and take excellent care of it, resulting in a safe, clean, and comforting environment.

Daytime temperatures on Saba average 26°C, give or take a few degrees between summer and winter. Easterly trade winds and the mountain create ever-changing cloud movements. The higher grounds on the mountain slopes have lower temperatures and refreshing winds.

Saba has an extraordinary bounty of orchids, bromeliads, mountain fuchsia, mahogany, elephant and sea grape trees, wild plantains, massive ferns, and other flora. Saba's national flower is the yellow-petaled, dark-centered black-eyed Susan; petals can also be white or orange. There is also a multitude of birds such as the red-billed tropic and Audubon’s shearwater along with endemic critters such as Saba green iguanas.

TROY HILL
Troy Hill is located on the southwestern side of the island, offering grand vistas over the island and Mount Scenery. At a site height of 400 to 500 meters above sea level, the microclimate of Troy Hill offers mild weather conditions with a temperature a few degrees lower than sea level.
At the foot of the hill is the village of The Bottom. On the other side of the mountain, Windwardside and Zions Hill are the villages connecting to the airport, a 15-minute drive away. Both The Bottom and Windwardside offer great restaurants and local shops.

HAIKU HOUSE TYPOLOGY
The 30-year-old Haiku House is a proof of concept for hurricane, earthquake, and termite-proof modular building. The wooden structure has stood the test of time and is an icon for island living. Recognizable and accepted as a new typology on the island.

We aim to use the best of the houses typology and improve on durability and sustainability. Thus creating a building system with which a great variety of bespoke houses can be made, while maintaining control of quality and service.

BUILDING ELEMENTS
By creating a 'box' of building elements, we can create a wide variety of designs within a family look and feel.

Repetition of elements will enhance prefabrication, quality, and speed of building. Installation elements and concepts can be used throughout, thus reducing loss of efficiency.

PLOT DISTRIBUTION
The site is divided into 4 size categories. Going up the hill, the building size will increase and plots will be larger. All plots are accessible from the top. To do this, we created a bypass road between the steep plots on the east side of the hill.
